What is Brainspotting?

Brainspotting is a focused mindfulness-based therapy approach that can help us to access and process emotions and memories on a deeper level. In a typical session, we work together to locate a “brainspot” in your field of vision—a specific point that seems connected to your feelings on a specific issue.

By gently focusing on that spot and the area in your body connected to this issue, your brain and body begins to naturally process and reconsolidate memories or feelings related to unresolved issues, promoting healing and reducing symptoms like anxiety. This powerful technique can be seamlessly integrated with other approaches to address situations that cause emotional distress, and what makes it even more interesting is that it can be used to target issues we have a hard time talking about or even finding the words to describe.

Clients often report having greater clarity and emotional regulation related to the issues they process through Brainspotting.

The strength of the therapeutic relationship and my attunement to you as my client is the most important part of our work together, but especially when using this technique. If you’re ready to give it a try, we can discuss ways in which to incorporate this into our work together.
